Tra la la la la la

"Nothing Compares 2 U", "Son of a Preacher Man", "Sweet Home Alabama"

What do all of these songs have in common? They are all songs that you can sing when we are at our next WhoaBam Reno Event- KARAOKE!

That's right friends! We are headed to the West Second St. bar on Monday night to sing our little hearts out! We will be planning on meeting around 9pm.

Extra Credit for this week: Sing a song that mentions Reno!

We are also excited to announce a new addition to WBR- The Delicious Dish. We will be picking a new restaurant every week to go and share a meal at. This weeks Delicious Dish- Sup (with the umlaut). We will be going Monday at 11:30.

A special thanks to Natalie and Brad at the Sierra Taproom for their support last week! We love trivia on Tuesday nights!

PS- No one earned the extra credit from last week, so it's double or nothing this week!

Hope to see you on Monday! And here's a picture of "The Wheel of Destiny"!

Whoa...Bam!

The Mustang Ranch, AKA the World Famous Brothel certainly did not disappoint! We didn't get there in time to tour the museum, however, some of the "Ladies" were kind enough to offer up their services for a personal tour of almost everything from the negotiation rooms to the Asian Bungalow!

We had a drink at the bar and chatted with some of the Ladies and then called it a night. For those who were really upset about missing out on the museum, word on the street is that they can tour you around there 365 days a year, but only from 11am-3pm.

Thanks to all who attended our first ever WhoaBam Reno event. The next spin is on Wednesday night, so check back in to see what's up for our next exciting adventure!

A Whore[s] of a different color

This second blog entry comes to you from my bedchamber. I know what you're thinking... it's only our first date and that seems a little forward, Blink. And you would be right. That is why I will not tell you that right now, as I sit on my satin sheets, I am wearing only a lace teddy, toe socks, and my roommate's cowboy boots. A teddy because if ya got it ya gotta flaunt it, toe socks because I have a thing for them, and cowboy boots because.....our inaugural spin has landed on the World Famous Mustang Ranch!!!

We are headed out to the Mustang Ranch for some sweet action!
(maybe just a drink or MAYBE more)
The World Famous Mustang Ranch is a brothel located in Sparks just outside of Reno city limits. The world-renowned Mustang Ranch, at one time the largest bordello in the United States, has reopened under new management, now calling itself the World Famous Brothel.
Here's the Drama for your Momma: The reason it's called the World Famous Brothel instead of the Mustang Ranch is because of a silly trademark tiff between brothers. (True Story) You know how it is, one brother buys a brothel on EBay, the other buys one from the BLM... what else could you expect? The Mustang Ranch has been around for a while, but in 1971, it became the state’s first legal brothel and led to a movement that legalized prostitution in 12 of Nevada’s 17 counties.

This weeks event will take place on Monday January 21st at 6pm.
Although there are many exciting menu items to choose from at the Ranch, we are making the museum visit the only WhoaBam Reno event.

All WhoaBam Reno participants should wear something Red so we know who are.

Extra Credit: This week's extra credit is getting a FREE... bumper sticker and putting it on your friends car. Hahahahahaha.

This week's special event is:
Caucus! Get your booty out and let your voice be heard! Nevada is caucusing for the first time ever- so be a part of history. We don't care who you caucus for, just do it!

In the beginning...

Welcome to WhoaBam Reno!

Okay Friends. Here we are in Reno NV. How did we get here? I've been here for about 6 months and I think of all of the people I've met in Reno, only one of then is actually FROM Reno. In my time here I've also noticed that of all of the places that I've lived, Reno has been the hardest to find fun and exciting things to do! So, do we just sit back and say "Oh well."

We could, but you know who likes that? No one. No one likes that.

So what is WhoaBam Reno? WhoaBam Reno is a social club of sorts. We decided that instead of passively living our lives out here in Reno, we wanted to get out there and fully embrace everything (okay, well maybe not EVERYTHING) that Reno has to offer! We want to get out there, knock on the front door and say " Take me Reno, I'm yours."

This is how it works:
There is a huge pie chart hanging up on the wall with the option of 8 exciting new to us activities. They range in extensively in content from Ice Skating on the river to going out to visit the Mustang Ranch. Every time one activity is chosen, another one goes up in it's place.

Every Wednesday we will spin the wheel and see what pops up. I will then post the weeks' activity on the blog so that everyone knows what, where and when the WhoaBam Reno activity for the week is happening!

Here's the fun part- for every outing there is an extra credit portion. For example, let's say that we end up going ice skating, the extra credit may be that while on the rink you have to convince someone to three legged race with you to the other side. If we go to Susie's, everyone has to bring something home, etc.

There will also be a special posting about special events and weekly/monthly events. If you have something you think would be fun for WhoaBam Reno, let us know! We'd love to add you to the chart. Please email all suggestions to WhoaBamReno@gmail.com We will be doing the inaugural spin tomorrow night and we will be posting the exciting results here.

WhoaBam Reno may not be for everyone. All we are trying to do is have a little fun and get to know the place that we live a little better. We want to love you Reno! Just let us love you!
